Tip for rich chutnies
To make your (cococnut/tomato) chutney rich add few cashews fried in oil to the chutney while grinding it. This gives a rich taste to the chutney.
Tip to prevent potato and eggs from cracking
To avoid potato and eggs from cracking while you cook them, add a pinch of salt to water in which they are being cooked.
Tip to soften tomato
Add salt immediately after you add the tomatoes. This helps soften the tomatoes faster.
Tip to clean Spinach
Always clean spinach before chopping it. This helps retain the nutrition. Take a large bowl of water and swish the bunch of leaves in the water. The dirt settles at bottom. Discard the water and repeat the cleaning process until there is no dirt that settles.
Tip to store vegetables fresh for long
Once you return from your shopping transfer the vegetables into the refrigerator bags and store them into the vegetable basket. This prevents the vegetables from losing their freshness and remain crisp for long.
Tip to get rid of the raw egg smell from omelet
Add a pinch of turmeric and a dash of lemon juice to the beaten egg and beat for a couple of minutes and prepare the omelet. The raw smell of the egg is gone.
Tip to make a non-sticky lady's finger fry
Add a tablespoon or curd /lemon juice while preparing the fry. This removes the stickiness from the curry.
Ginger garlic paste
Add a few pods of cloves,Cinnamon, pinch of turmeric, pinch of salt while griding the ginger garlic paste. This gives a very special aroma to the paste. This also acts as a ready to use gar am masala. This paste can be stored in the refrigerator and used for about two weeks.
Tip to get rid of excess oil from your curries/fries
You find your potato curry oily add one/two heaped spoons of gram flour to the fry and simmer until the raw smell goes. Lo!!! vanishes the oil and tasty potato fry is ready with a delicious taste
Tip to make your gravy rich
Grind two tablespoons of grated coconut with equal amount of poppy seeds into a fine paste and add it to the gravy when its almost done and simmer for about 5 minutes. This paste thickens the gravy and gives it a rich taste
